Last years Erste Bank Vienna Night Run had more than 7,000 runners and Nordic Walkers participating. The run through the first district of Vienna passing by Stephansdom was a "Light festival" of good deeds.
This year the famous Ringstrasse is the track for all runners and Nordic walkers that want to combine their fitness with charity. Since 5 euros from every entry fee are donated to „Light to the World", which helps partially sighted people in Africa and Asia with small operations to regain their full eyesight.
Start and Finish of the Erste Bank Vienna Night Run 2009 are on the Burgring between Bellariastrasse and Babenbergerstrasse. The 5-km round at night on the biggest boulevard of Vienna, the ring, certainly offers an unforgettable sports experience to the thousands of runners and Nordic walkers participating.
"I hope that we can double the number of participants this year to 15,000. This means twice as many donations for partially sighted people,” says Hannes Menitz, organizer and sportmedia CEO.
On the evening of the 6th of October thousands of runners will illuminate the ring with their shirts to present a huge luminous sign of togetherness to the world. Just like the 7,000 participants showed their heart last year in this unique event with future, all runners of 2009 will make blind people see again too.
